BA companion voucher extension? Advice please?

I was rewarded my first BA companion voucher and it is due to expire in June. I cannot use this by this date due to having so many other postponed flights from lockdown. And a lack of annual leave.

Has anyone Been able to extend their voucher?
It feels such a shame to lose it.

Thanks in advance.

don't you only have to book by June rather than fly by June?
  • No my outward leg needs to be before June sadly.
I have asked them to extend it by a year based on the fact that we couldn’t travel to the US for 20 months So will just wait and see.

Go to  " Head For Points " they had an article on there where you booked a flight and then cancelled to extend your voucher BUT they are stopping this shortly so look it up.

I think this horse has bolted. I did a booking and cancellation in January with a companion voucher that was due to expire in January, and received a future travel voucher instead. But the future voucher has now been turned back into cash and points, although I was one of the lucky ones who got the extension on the companion voucher to September 2023.

However, even without covid, there was never any guarantee of being able to use companion vouchers. I've lost them previously when I haven't been able to use in time. But HFP and Flyertalk re great resources for getting the best out of things points and vouchers. Best tip I can give is to book 355 days ahead of time to be in with the best chance of using them.
