Domestic abuse victims really bad credit

Hi All 
how do I rebuild my credit when all the credit agencies still don't recognise financial abuse . My credit rsting is on the floor and Ive tried ti get a rebuilder credit card . They said No. ( i have police records as proof )
secondly we reclaimed PPI cover from a joint account . Barclays paid it all to him , despite it being a joint account . He didnt pay off the overdraft and its listed against my name . But Barclays paid him all the money back . 

Any help would be gratefully received . I tried to explain to Equifax  but it falls on deaf ears

Credit reference agencies don't recognise financial abuse as they don't decide what to put on your credit file, they merely collate data from lenders and allocate it to the appropriate person. Also, ignore any credit rating numbers they're giving you as they're irrelevant. What actually matters is your credit history.

The joint account means both of you are jointly and severally liable for all debts, as such the overdraft will be listed in full against both of you. Was the PPI paid into the account? if so then you were both paid the refund. If it was sent by cheque then it should really have been one cheque for each of you for half the amount.

Maybe you could clarify in what way you feel a victim of financial abuse. Your post just suggests you've got a joint account with an overdraft and are unhappy that the other party to the account didn't use a PPI refund to pay that down/off.
