Shell Energy standing charge price hike

I am baffled as to why I am facing 73% increase in standing charge on electricity (24.03 up to 41.65p per day) on top of a 36% increase on kwh usage.
Gas service charge increase is minor in comparison at a little over 4%, though with a whopping 80% increase on kwh usage.
Why does it feel like we are being ripped off, as far as I can tell it is the cost of energy that is rising not their service?
I am probably not seeing the bigger picture.
