Refund help please

Hi,
In January I bought a Vevor lathe. From the start of February, the faceplate has seemed to have gotten harder to get off and a couple of days ago it’s stuck hard.

Me and hubby have tried and tried to remove it, but no luck, rendering the lathe unusuable.

Basically, the faceplate has stuck/jammed whatever. To remove it you use a tool and spanner. The said tool has “rounded” due to trying to push it and the hole the tool fits into has “stretched” so can’t be used again.

I have been in contact with the customer help from Vevor and sent pictures of what has happened but they have basically replied that “I” have damaged it and it’s my fault. There is nothing they can do.  Surely it’s obviously “poor quality” for this to have happened in the first place. I would have expected it to have been very strong to withstand the use it’s meant for.
My hubby and I are both pensioners and not the UKs strongest couple …lol.

Please advise me as I don’t want to lose several £100’s which I’ve saved to buy the lathe in the first place. My new hobby is on hold.

Was this lathe bought for personal use (e.g.a hobby) or for your business ?

Going by the language in the returns section I think they are a Chinese company, can anyone see an address on the site?

It's not looking hopeful here OP with consumer rights. How did you pay?

    If they are Shanghai VEVOR Machinery Equipment Co., Ltd. then their address is listed on GlobalSources.com but as the lunatic implies it may not be all that useful;

    Registered Company Name       上海佩续机械设备有限公司
    Company Registration Address  上海市普陀区宜昌路458弄8号5楼503室

    https://www.globalsources.com/si/AS/Shanghai-VEVOR/6008852403883/CompanyProfile.htm

GlobalSources.com helpfully explain that  'In China, company names and addresses are registered in Chinese only.'

Hidden at the bottom of their terms & conditions page

    "22. Company Information

Looks like they're in Hong Kong.

eta: snap (must've been posting at the same time)

Looks like they've already got a rep for poor quality equipment

Sadly this won't help.  If you won a claim of SNAD (and I am not saying your claim is SNAD) then Paypal would require you to send the item back to the seller at your cost with tracking showing delivery.  That isn't going to happen for a Chinese website.

I am not sure what avenue is open to you....
