House Move
Hi there - we get the keys for our new house on 25th March (1 week exactly before the price hikes). When should I be looking for gas and electricity prices? The current owners are with British Gas. It is a 3 bedroomed terraced house and we are in Scotland. We have been living with family for 6 months so haven't been a customer with any gas or electricity companies in that time.
Thanks in advance!

You'll have to use British Gas but probably best to just stick with default tariff rather than going with a fix that they'll probably try to push. Just let them know when you move in and make sure you take readings on the day. No need to look beforehand.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.1

When you move in read the meters take photos and give details to the present suppliers - you will go on a Standard Tariff - resist any pressure to go on a fixed tariff.
No point in looking around at the moment.
Be prepared for some very big bills.
Read your meters every month and keep your own recordsNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1 -
Ok thank you very much, I went on British Gas website for a quote, which they gave me but feels like there's no point really as the quote didn't take into account the price increase from 1st April.0
