Reports have been sent off, birthday card for Mr MV ordered, part of his birthday present has arrived (I've yet to decide what else I'm getting him), washing away, rubbish out, oh and Hobbycraft card sorted so I should get my £5 birthday voucher from now on.
Very snotty email sent to computer manufacturer as their follow-up when I chased (considering I sent it back to them two weeks ago tomorrow) was that it had slipped through the net and the 'engineer' would look at it as soon as he could. Totally unacceptable given how long this has been going on. If they don't send it back before Friday I will be asking for a refund and they can keep their sodding machine. I'll end up having to spend more for what I want, but frankly, at least hopefully it'll work and I'll be able to use it. 😡Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

What really annoys me about the panic buying is the amount that lands up being thrown away. Especially eggs which seem to have quite a short date but are fine as long as they don't float. Last week I actually had to buy a dozen instead of my usual 6 because that was what they had. At least I have only once thrown 1 away & that was because I realised I had used them out of order & one floated, well went up nearer the top of the water than I was comfortable with. Why do I get more annoyed with myself & inanimate objects than I do with other people?

Afternoon all,
Totally agree about the waste Badmemory - it's ridiculous. Also quite annoyed as I could do with some eggs and as I haven't got a car, the Coop is my best option at the moment (although should I choose to, there's quite a few places within walking distance - just the endless rain is somewhat offputting!). Still, I don't *need* them just yet.
Olio collected last night. I would say it was the first time I've done it in an evening when I've not stressed about it and had it hang over me all day. I don't know whether that was because I wasn't super tired or just because I decided not to let it affect my evening until the point at which it did, IYSWIM. Normally I'm thinking about cooking something easy and cooking early etc. but in reality, I don't leave until 8.20 to collect the stuff, by which point we'll have long eaten anyway. So that was good. Not a huge collection, but did keep some veggie bacon, a sandwich each for today, a tub of yoghurt and some raspberries. The bacon has gone into the freezer for a weekend bacon sarnie treat at some point - the rest will get used asap.
I am queen of procrastination today as I've still not started on the piece of work for my client. I have, however, done two other small pieces of work and logged on and done some Cambridge work. At some point (before it gets dark, ideally), I need to walk to drop off an ebay parcel.... I'm hoping for a break in the rain as it's not a particularly close drop-off point. Mr MV is away tonight, so I can always work this evening. I do also have a couple of cards to make too.
Have been looking about at laptops and (as I've not heard anything from the manufacturer since my snotty email), I've lined up a couple - both would actually save me money on what I've paid and one of them would have been more expensive at full price (JL has a save £200 offer on it), so nearer the spec I got from the online company. If I haven't heard anything by 3pm today, I'll be requesting a refund. If I issues, well I paid on a CC (I hope they don't take my Avios back!) and will instigate the process that way.
MS things:
* Free food - lunch today sorted
* Clicks and HW done - reached payout with VB and just 100 points off from MS Rewards
* NV survey done
* YG direct survey done - 45 points to go there now
* Reinstalled 1P as it was giving me a 404 error code all the time - hopefully this will have sorted it
* Took tonight's dinner out of freezer to defrost in fridge last night - saving power in fridge and in cooking (in microwave) later
Gratitutdes:
* We can afford to have the heating on. One Olioer last night admitted her house was 13 degrees and she can't put the heating on - the energy company had forced fitting of a prepayment meter because they were so far behind with their bills - and the company are taking the govt money for the debt. It's never toasty in our house (thermostat at 17, sometimes 17.5) but at least it's not that cold.
* Looking forward to my egg sarnie for lunch (and that veggie bacon - I've not had veggie bacon in a loooong time as it used to be fairly pants - hoping this will have improved significantly!)
* Friendly Olioers - it's been too wet to pop things on the porch, so I've seen them all!
Have a good day all! I really better get on with this work now....Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I thought I'd joined in on the egg chat, but obviously not, hey ho. I use about a dozen eggs a month - but I didn't get any in my last order, they were out of stock, so I bought lots when I had to do a click and collect for JL goods from our Waitrose. Same as everywhere else there - no cheaper ones left, a few medium priced (the ones I got) and most of the hugely expensive ones still on the shelf. Saw a farm bod on BBC news this morning, saying some people are keeping their poultry sheds empty now - they're losing less money that way, than if they raised the birds and sold the eggs to the supermarkets. Got to be something wrong there.
Anyway, hope you enjoyed that egg sarnie - and the veggie bacon, I've not had any in years for exactly the same reason, I'd be interested to know the results of your taste test2023: the year I get to buy a car5 -
I'll try to remember to report back about the facon KC. Not sure when it'll be though. Saturday certainly is too busy for 'bacon' sandwiches - we're playing badminton at 9, I've got to go to a 1-year-old's birthday at 11 (I'm not making MrMV attend, the last one was fairly dire - I'd rather not go really, but ...) and then we're off to the footie later on - which I'm very much looking forward to. Niece and Sis are coming to the football and bringing their friends, so it'll be fun to have a bigger crowd. Mr MV and I are planning on eating a pasty there (they were good last time!) and then heading off for some dessert after the match. Maybe Sunday...
(Would you look at that - a whole rigmarole of story to avoid getting back to this work - but I have at least started it!)Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Morning all,
After an exceptionally bitty and unproductive day yesterday, I've had stern words with myself (and have deadlines pressing). I've done a couple of small jobs that came in overnight and have the big project up on my (other) screen. I need to get this out of the way this morning ideally. Mr MV will be back later and I need to take the car to get a present for the party I'm going to tomorrow (unless I decide to give cash....). Also need some chocs for the football tomorrow. Need to make card for party too.
Dinner tonight will be the mystery dish (some sort of curry) I got out of the freezer yesterday thinking it was cat chicken.... poor cats had to just have kibble for dinner.
Welding friend is coming round on Sunday morning to finish my car (hopefully) so I can get in booked in for a re-test before Wednesday.
MS things:
* Reached payout on MS Rewards (£10 voucher - this will either be used towards laptop replacement (probably not), or some bedroom furniture we've found from Argoose - we are still using a '90s white chipboard chest of drawers that is both falling apart and not big enough that came with Mr MV from his parents' house when we moved in...)
* Clicks and HW done - 20p on HW
* 1P reinstalled and did approx £1's worth of surveys last night
* NV surveys; MM surveys done
* YG direct survey - now just 5 points away from payout!
* Eating from freezer/Olio stuff (oh my, the 0% fat Greek yoghurt I kept is disgusting! Not sure how we're going to use that up)
* Costa have sent me an offer for a free drink - yes please!
Gratitudes
* Sunshine here today at last
* It's Friday
* Currently making plans for next Saturday with friends - that'll be us out three nights in a row! 😮

Nice to have a social life after the recent years offerings.
Well done on getting some of the smaller jobs done and good luck with your project.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thanks SH - just not sure how energetic we'll be by the Sunday! We're going ice skating at Somerset House on the Sunday and having fondue afterwards (an Amex platinum early booking job - this card is expensive 🙄 - but fun!). Monday it'll be a case of back to work for a rest (and we're away the following weekend - eek!). It *is* nice to be seeing people and doing things though - our friends are just beginning to come out from under the pile of nappies and bottles with their second children, so we really appreciate that they're still keen to see us!
Progress is good on the work and I've also attended a Cambridge meeting and submitted my timesheet there. Feeling much more on top of things today, which is good. Washing is sat next to me on heated airer, so that's keeping me warm too. Sun is out so it's not costing anything to run! (And also means I could probably put the washing on the line - but here it's doing dual duty as a room warmer.)
Lunch is going to be something with baguette as I have several of these languishing from Olio and my animal rescue lady who usually takes the leftovers is away.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
