Thanks SH. I object to having to have interviews really but it’s a result of the pandemic. I’m a freelancer and really think my CV, years of experience and recommendations should be enough. Never mind the fact that because they are in America it’s likely to be an inconvenient time for me (haven’t actually checked that yet). Nor have they given me any more information about the project or volume of work…SC - heavy plant crossing signs are always amusing I think!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

There was a Triffids film from 1962 (before my time) but also a TV series in the 80s
Link to trailer that doesnt quite cover the horror as a small child - see below - especially last 10 secs

No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

You made me chuckle when you wrote you were only going to be an hour at the allotment and then was over 2hours. We do exactly the same thing, we tend to fold time when we go up there. However we always feel less stressed by the time we leave, although levels tend to rise when I realise how much produce I've got to process. Currently visitors to the house are not allowed to leave unless they take a cucumber with them.

It's such a time-suck isn't it.... but very therapeutic and good exercise. And yes, I also panic at processing it all - it was a struggle enough to carry it all back too and I was very strict with the amount of potatoes I removed. Currently we're giving everyone potatoes and courgettes! wish you were nearer, I didn't grow a cucumber this year and in all this heat it would have done well and been very welcome. Next year - @Suffolk_lass has suggested snacking ones and they sound perfect.
Clearly took it out of me this morning as I've had a bit of a siesta - would have had longer but B&W cat decided to get onto the bed and shout at me🙄
Have just logged in and done 15 mins of Cambridge work - it's definitely not an hour's worth at the moment, but suspect it will be more later in the month and in September, so it all balances out. Bit quiet otherwise on the work front today though.
I did halve my plums and put them in one of my shiny new Kilner jars intending to do a test run of the stewing, but it hasn't quite filled the jar (really regretting the snacking done as I chopped!). Have popped it in fridge and will top up tomorrow... unless it looks like they're oxidising, in which case I might make a plum crumble alongside dinner as the oven is going on anyway.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Have revived a bit now is beginning to cool down. Dinner partly cooked (another recipe box) and plums stewed - decided against crumble, will have them with some yoghurt. Have realised that recipe box co have given us a mango and various extra sauces that are surplus to requirements. The extra sauces could be expected (and we were missing coriander), but the mango is random and will need to be factored into meal plan.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

The day of the triffids was terrifying. I'm shocked to discover it was out in 1984 - but it probably didn't help that my brother used to hide outside the bathroom making the triffid hissing noise!
I wouldn't give people work without speaking to them...
You do make me think I should plan to do something with my plums though - they are almost ripe but not quite...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Afternoon all,
@QueenJess and @savingholmes, interesting views, but I've only ever had two 'interviews' (including this one) for the work I do and both have been since the pandemic. And the last one I did didn't lead to more than one brief project, so was a waste of my time really. It's not particularly tricky work in terms of my field and doesn't involve creativity or the need to have a particular perspective, so my CV and a short test (which is fairly standard) should really be sufficient. And they still haven't given me any particulars of the project to know if I'd even be interested or have the knowledge required. Nor have they sent a Zoom invite yet (and as the meeting is for 10am their time, I would have expected it to arrive last night). Oh well, we'll see - it could be great, but I'm not convinced. They do have a seemingly good rep on the review board I use.
In any case, I need the work as I'm distinctly lacking in employment currently. A tiny bit for an American client this morning and I've got a bit of Cambridge work to do later, but that's it. It is August though and it is usually pretty quiet. Things should pick up later in the month for my main client, which would be good.
The kitchen is now sparkling and clutter-free, which is wonderful as it's been full of random jam jars, kilner jars, unsorted potatoes etc. etc. for far too long. And it's not a big space! Have also done the filing and tidied a bit in Mr MV's office - he's in the office office today.
I have an Olio collection to do this afternoon, so I'm going to take it easy for a couple of hours this afternoon - yesterday I hit a wall about 9pm and dragged myself off to bed and went straight off to sleep - slept until 7 this morning, so really needed it. But as I'll barely be starting the Olio stuff at 9, I need to have more in the tank tonight!
Lunch will be leftover daal and as Mr MV is having lunch out (colleague's leaving do), tea will be egg and fried potatoes (was going to be chips, but don't want to put the oven on) with some lettuce from the garden.
MS things:
* HW - up 60p
* Clicks done
* Have draughted an email to complain about laptop/customer service - need Mr MV to look it over before sending
* Have chased up about council garage (has been on my to-do list for a while)
* Have emailed American client to ask about a project first mentioned in January - there's a small sign it might still be on, but I've not heard any more. Asking won't speed it up, but at least I'll know whether to expect anything!
Gratitudes:
* Dinner in the garden last night with Mr MV
* Reliable people coming to collect Freegled items - various bits have gone today, including some I didn't think anyone would have - good to get them gone!
* Nice chat with one of my Olio team when I collected some bits yesterday - was nice to finally meet her!
Have a good afternoon all!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Fingers crossed for the interview, and for the American client. Glad you had a good night's sleep, even if it probably was the result of overdoing it a bit!4
