I'd approach the housing association
They may delay your installation and just move someone else forward due to your circumstances or come up with another solutionEx forum ambassador

I live in social housing and my new kitchen took two weeks. But it was very noisy and stressful. Most of it happens during normal working hours though so if your child goes to school, they shouldn't have to deal too much with the noise aspect. I used a microwave for meals and we had a few more take aways than we'd normally have. Or get a cheap slow cooker or instant pot (which cooks everything).
But I am sure the HA would agree to move installation around for a later date if you contact them. I have two autistic children, and they were far less aware of the stress than I was lol. They tend to pick up stress if parents are stressed!1 -

I’m okay with storing all our kitchen stuff in the living and I still have a one pot plate that I bought when we moved in while I was sorting out buying all the appliances, so in that aspect isn’t so bad. I’m more worried about her being ill during work hours and having to stay at home with all the noise and dust

I used to work for a housing trust, and just to manage your expectations, some of our kitchen works often went way over the timescales. Some by a long time!!!You’re definitely fine to say now isn’t a great time, you’ve got a really valid reason to not want to start major works and they’ll probably just move on to their next job on the list. Don’t worry about it- you sound really reasonable and they can’t force you to have a new kitchen if you can’t accommodate it at the moment.0

Phone them tomorrow and explain why you cannot have the work done now. It'll be easier for them if you tell them as soon as possible.Five weeks? Exactly what are they doing? I'd suspect there will be gaps between trades, explain your circumstances, they may be able to shorten the installation time.0
