Although you're a low user, where the lower Octopus daily charges would normally help you out, the extreme unit rates make the SVT much cheaper.

Thank you I was a bit unsure how they reached the 123 as opposed to 132 unless to do with the ever changing costs atm

Do you have credit on your account? If so, Octopus may have taken this into consideration.

  • FWiW, I thought that the care that Octopus put into the email which I received last night is worthy of praise. The options were clearly laid out and future annual costs were based on what I consider to be an accurate estimation of my annual usage.

The percentage difference between Loyal Fixed and Flexible Octopus for gas alone is 60%. Price certainty comes at a significant cost. I note that ML suggested that less than a 30% difference should be the deciding factor, and he is hoping to see some further Government support in the Spring statement. Given that when it comes to energy, the Government appears to have no short-term plan, I am not holding my breath. We were as well prepared for the invasion of Ukraine as we were for Covid. Governments do not like to pay for precautions to offset events that they hope will never happen when they are in power.
