Tesco offering repair and not replacement of of Nintendo Switch bought end of Nov 2021

A Nintendo Switch we bought in Nov 2021 for a Christmas present for our son (it wasn't opened and played with until Christmas Day), has developed a fault charging.
I've contacted Tesco and they are offering only a repair... As it's only been used rarely for 3 months (our son has t played it a lot), I would rather a replacement.
Am I within my consumer rights to demand a replacement rather than a repair? If so how do I do that.
I paid for it via my NatWest MasterCard if I remember rightly.

Tesco are allowed to offer a repair, replacement, or refund at their discretion.3

No. As it's within 6 months, the default position is that the fault should be assumed to be inherent unless Tesco (or whoever they contract to do the repair) can show otherwise, but they're still entitled to offer a repair instead of a replacement.mickym said:Am I within my consumer rights to demand a replacement rather than a repair? Whats the issue? it isnt that it wont charge and just shows the little empty battery symbol in the top corner is it? if so this is due to allowing the battery to run down too much but... its easy to sort.
There are loads of sites out there showing how to fix it, but its basically along the lines of
1) Remove all controllers etc so its just the switch
2) Plug the charge cable directly into the switch - do not use the docking station
3) Do a hard reset (hold down the power button on the switch for 20 seconds)
4) leave it overnight
5) try to power it on
Had to do this to mine a few times0
