I’m sure I’m not the only one trying to do this.  I’ve tried the comparison site and cheap energy club calculators but they ask what tariff I’m on and the one I’m on is called Flexible Avro ( I’m with Octopus) and there’s no listing on these sites of Flexible Avro to choose from.  I don’t come under the average household figures  as it’s just me. I wondered if there’s any calculators you can use where they don’t have to use an automated list and can just plug in the April unit prices.

Another thing I noticed I was initially told Flexible Avro was the same as Flexible Octopus but it’s not it’s more expensive and when I queried it, twice I just got an irrelevant answer over a week later which didn’t make any sense ... I had even sent screenshots to show them but still got no sensible answer.

Shockingly, in the space of less than a week I had a fixed rate quote on Octopus Loyalty tariff of £105 a month for 12 months which I was going to go for as it was around 76% increase but when I went to switch the next day it had gone up to £113 a month and then yesterday it went up to £122 ( a 92% increase) but only for 10 months!

It actually dropped back down to last weeks price for a while yesterday, before it went back up to where it is now.
Unfortunately the energy market is very volatile right now so you can expect a lot of changes, but at least they are still offering a fix, some suppliers have stopped trying for the moment...

What are you seeing that suggests it is more expensive?
There are regional variations so you can't compare with figures others post, but you should be able to see the current standard variable tariff on the Octopus website.

Thank you I may just check in every day and see if it goes down again...

The Flex Avro and Flex Octopus (flex octopus being the one I was told I’d be going into after moving from Avro but it is called Flex Avro). I was told they are the same but when I compared them side by side they was a difference in the prices.  I took screenshots from my sign in and sent them with my email but the question wasn’t addressed. Can’t send them from here as they’re on my laptop.. yes aware of the regional differences - I live in the southwest so often a bit more expensive for utilities

Can you just post the rates you see for your Avro tariff here please?

  • Currently on Flexible Avro. Was move to this tariff when Avro went bust. I don’t know how long this Avro tariff lasts for. Maybe someone knows. Had this offer to change tariff today to a loyalty tariff fixed for 10 months. Any advice please.

Octopus have announced that Flexible Avro customers will join their other SVT customers on Flexible Octopus from the start of April.

It's not a great tariff - other suppliers have had better loyalty offers - but if you don't mind paying a bit more through the summer in the hope that you'll avoid the October cap increase, it's worth considering.
