Why convert from gas to electricity? Gas is surely far cheaper?
LPG possibly. Not priced like the mains.
Thanks. I really hadn't thought of that.
Also I’m lead to believe Electrikit is more economical than a standard electric/gas/oil Aga as it is designed to come in and off and only be at temperature when you need it.

Won’t a great chunk of iron, like an Aga, take rather a long time to get up to the required temperature?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Ours would take around a day. Lit in Late November and not touched till turn-off in April.
It was an old oil conversion model and we hated it sometimes. Every time the wind blew hard the oven temperature would fall away. Of course it's lovely having a hunk of hot metal in your kitchen on chill winter days and those well-heeled enough will continue to enjoy that. I don't think they'll make a come back for the rest of us.

A modern Electrikit conversion is supposed to take 90 minutes (as opposed to 12 hours). You also don’t have to have all the ovens and jobs on at the same time.
