Bathroom installation quotes too high!!
I’m having my bathroom installation done by B&Q. I have been quoted £4,400 for installation costs. It seems very high for a bathroom which is only 4 square metres. I’m having the tiling, toilet, sink and bath taken out to be replaced by Wash walls, shower cubicle, etc.
Does anyone know how much of a percentage from the £4,400 goes to B&Q for providing an installer from their books?

They subcontract so there will be a mark up. How much, I have no idea but it would ordinarily be cheaper directly. Same with kitchens.A properly done bathroom isn't a cheap job though and people underestimate the time and skill required. It is a proper building job and probably isn't massively inflated.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

as you are HAVING it done . should have checked before if it bothers you . I think you may have a point it maybe cheaper elsewhere but I would rather B&Q held the guarantee than some plumbers / bathroom fitters I know . How many days have they submitted it will take for 1 or 2 tradesmen . B & Q will have their mark up and you could have got better quality materials and possibly fitters elsewhere . Some fitters I know do not touch b&q products .

If you are buying the service from B&Q, at the very least there will be vat on that amount - c.£730, even if the installer isn't vat registered. There are still plenty of excellent independent installers out there who are not vat registered BUT do get recommendations from people you know and don't go on any of the so called 'trusted trader' types sites.kl1969 said:I’m having my bathroom installation done by B&Q. Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.0
