MBNA - Praise where Praise is due.

My inaugural post, so I thought I would start on a happy note (before launching into Amazon Customer Services!). I have been having serious problems with Amazon since mid-February over a fraudulent transaction. Credit to them, they did detect it, but then seemed to demonise me for having the temerity to be an Amazon Customer!
Throughout this the MBNA credit card team, both the front office and fraud specialists have been outstanding. Yes, it can take sometime to contact them by phone during the day, but they are still manning phones late into the evening and the service is much easier to contact. They refunded the money taken from my card and explained the process of dealing with fraudulent payment. My card was cancelled on Wednesday late night and a new one arrived the following Friday. It would be a pleasure to deal with them was the subject not so bleak. 10/10 for service.

While it is good to hear that.
I have to temper it a bit with Amazon still have the right to contest the charge, that has been refunded to you.

Contest or more likely ban for life (and anyone they also think is you and anyone else in your house), they may be a pain to deal with but it is the only way if you expect to use them again.

Born_Again. You are totally correct, MBNA did warn me, but I actually have emails from Amazon acknowledging it was fraud and advising me to reclaim the payment.

Carrot007. Correct also. I have been explicitly threatened by Amazon that they will close down any new account I tried to create.

So annoying when retailers tell you to go to bank to claim it back, when they know it's fraud. As bank only claims money back from them,,,,

It seems unlikely to be fraud if it used your amazon account and you still have access to it. Just saying. Sounds more like a unscrupulous family member you do noty want to report for "fraud".

  • Carrot007, it actually was fraud. My account was locked for 8 days and then reinstated then another 9 days later they locked it again this Saturday because they were in dispute with MBNA despite sending me an email saying it was fraud, the order was never sent (although the card was charged) and I should contact the card issuer for a refund. Currently no amazon and no kindles working. Thankfully Prime Video was left untouched.
