Good morning everyone
.I don't think it's quite as cold this morning_ not quite as much frosty grass for Bigdog to roll around in the park- she absolutely loves it and wriggles her back on it with legs in the air , quite a sight really given her size :DRather her than me!
TA I tried watching a different news channel last night, it's so hard to watch the events unfolding. I made a donation online to the appeal, hopefully every little will help.Jackie, poor Stanley, glad he's feeling a bit better today.I enjoyed my lunch out with my old school friend yesterday & resisted cake even though she had the most enormous piece of choc. cake. She felt a bit guilty but I said it was ok, I'd enjoy the smug feeling insteadI actually got a top on that I've never worn ( bought online from a clearance outlet during lockdown & never sent back, which made me hunt another unworn 'bargain' that I grabbed last year- that fits too :)Still a way to go before I'll feel ready to wear a cossie in public at the wedding in Greece but seeing progress spurs you on a bit! I've got chicken thighs in the sc for later, we're off to our football match so need tea ready a bit earlier.
I hope there are no mishaps resulting from all this window cleaning! or decorating! We've been putting off doing upstairs but did paint downstairs before Xmas, just seems a lot harder these daysI've finally asked my cousin and 2nd cousin here for some lunch next week & family tree info get together - tidy up starts again today!! The menfolk have been warned
Taff, good thing you checked the carHave a good day all:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)12 -
Morning everyone
Another lovely sunny morning today, though it's meant to get windy later.
Working just afternoons again this week - felt absolutely shattered after yesterdays 3 hours! Had a lie down when I got home, but was still in bed early. I know so many people feel so much worse than me, but I'm fed up with it now.
Eldest DD has had a great time in Paris - she flies back to Germany this afternoon. They've been lucky as the weather has been good for wandering around. She sent me a lovely photo of the Eiffel Tower at sunset last night.
I've given the bathroom a quick clean this morning and have the towels and a few bits busy washing - I'll get them out on the line. I have a few bits to do before I go to work - nothing strenuous.
Hope everyone has a good day today. Take care x

Morning all. I said to a friend last week I'd sort out his art cupboard so I'm off ot do that this morning, then have an afternoon planned of sticking rhinestones back on my free reading glasses from a friend. I keep dropping them and knocking the sparkly bits off. I did indeed shift my harris yesterday and only came back three or four times so the kitchen floor is steamed [ but still looks dirty], 3 loads of washing done and dried, wood cleared from one side of porch so tip items and CS items put in that alcove so it's quite safe to walk down the passageway now. Not sure what supper is, OH is lates again and we basically finished off a Chinese with a pork chop last night so no leftovers. I'll defrost the fridge freezer after I get back if I can, the sun is shining on the lean to so it should get warm enough to defrost it, then I can properly sort out the freezer stuff.Nelski, don't think it's just cleaning companies, it's practically any service/tradesman. Hope you find a good reliable one soon. Izzy, I think I'd have reported him straightaway. Who knows if his judgement is impaired or not by alcohol? He's a danger. Camelot, did you think of a snappy comeback a few hours later? Scarlet, how about a foster dog? TA and Jackie, enjoy your day out [glad Stanley is better] .Rosy, I'm sorry, I did laugh at your post when you spoke about wearing a cossie then followed it with I've got chicken thighs....
Take care of yourselves today...

Good morning,
Bright and sunny here🌞, lovely blue skies and the temperature a balmy 6 degrees🥶
Off out for a walk with a friend today, then will plant some more seeds as the 3 packets I ordered arrived this morning🍅. A cross stitch birth sampler also arrived so I can start that tonight, it's for a baby due in July so I'd better get cracking as I'm not the fastest stitcher.
Easy tea tonight, my daughter bought us a slice of steak pie yesterday, it's huge so we're having half each with some salad.
Taff you definitely did the right thing checking up on that car🚘
Have as good a day as you can🌻13 -
Hello all, another grey day here and still only 5 degrees, the evenings are starting to draw out at last though. Another one here with lots of decorating needed doing and I'm ashamed to say I already have the paint for the bedroom ( bought it last year ) but I still haven't started 🤨 I do all the painting but Mr Fix It does the other stuff, in fact he made my kitchen units years ago ( weird shaped kitchen ) but now I'd just like some new doors as the carcasses are fine. As they say the mind is willing but the body...... well the less said about mine the better. Nels I'll borrow your extendable window cleaner if I may, as long as he's a hunk💪 😂 Sorry I'll get my coat !
I don't really have any set plans for today, I would like to attack the hedge roots that we left in the front garden but it may be just too cold, the cold air starts the pains off in my face. I have to fill the dw and start that up then put the sleeping bags away, they have been hanging up to air., after that the day is my own to potter about as I please. Tea will be the rest of the chicken pie and something, haven't decided yet.
Lots of poorly and down people on here today so I shall send everyone in need healing vibes and/or lots of hugs.
taff good call on the car
Scarlett how do you choose the books ? Do you take turns ?
Take care all, stay safe and well
nan xx
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently14 -
Hi Nanny, we can choose books sometimes, the librarian who runs the book clubs is very good, and only yesterday gave us a list to choose books we thought we would like, as the County library is spending money at the moment. On the whole it's a good system. Also of course, they need a certain number of copies to give us.
Sorry to hear your cleaner dropped you in it Nels, it's a bit of a blow isn't it. Hope you can get someone else.13 -
Morning all. It was very chilly overnight again here and I had expected to see frost this morning but there was none. Bright and sunny today but the wind is on the cool side. I'll not be lingering long when I take out the rubbish for tomorrow's bin collection.
I managed to clean the kitchen window yesterday without any mishap and, whilst not perfect, it looks a lot better. Thanks for the suggestion of knee pads taff, I might just try that - why didn’t I think of it? Shame about the car you went to see but it was a lucky escape.
Enjoy your day out TA (and the fish & chips). Likewise Jackie on your multi tasking day out and visit to Dobbies. Glad to hear Stanley is on the mend.
Oh Izzy, it’s never reassuring, is it, when there doesn’t seem to be a straightforward answer to ailments. Not to mention the doc’s own issues.
Scarlet - our kitchen face-lift will also be just painting and, like yours, there isn’t a lot of wall but, as you say, it’s fiddly. It will probably take longer to move things out of the way, retrieve the ladder, roller etc from the cupboard of doom and then put things back than the actual painting! Ah well, one day.
Nels - I’ve tried an extender pole too but somehow they don’t seem to do the same job as good old fashioned elbow grease. And they don’t get into the corners. Sorry to hear your cleaner has let you down - as you say, a first world problem.
It sounds as if we're all in the same boat when it comes to decorating - perhaps we need a decorator's club with a resident painter & decorator we can all call on when needed.
Today's scintillating job from the To Do list is to clean down the back of all the radiators. I have a nifty tool for the job that I got ages ago from one of the £1 shops so it doesn't take too long. It's a long, flat piece of plastic (a bit like a long ruler) that has a felt covering over it with "tentacles" down the long sides to catch all the dust bunnies. It's also useful for cleaning the top of the washing machine as the gap between that and the worktop over it is too small to get your arm in and I can't drag the washing machine out either.
Other than that, I'm not sure what else I shall be doing today so I'll see how the fancy takes me. If the sun stays with us I could be quite productive. If not, well, it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.
I have some tomato & red pepper soup defrosting for lunch and for dinner tonight we're having a stir fry using a couple of small ys turkey fillets from the freezer and whatever veggies I have in the fridge.
Hugs to all, especially the poorlies or anyone feeling down generally. We can only do what we can do. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.11 -
Afternoon from Frankfurt airport. I landed from Berlin an hour ago and now waiting for the Glasgow flight at 2pm.Berlin was very very cold, bright and sunny. Being with my cousin was fabulous, not so fabulous with his grumpy partner. She has various bees in her bonnets! Anyway, he and I sorted out DM's papers so I have a selection of them in my case. Yesterday he took me on a tour of all the wee villages in what was East Germany. We ended up in a lovely cafe run by Buddhist monks, the cakes were just heavenly and very cheap. He paid €11 for three huge slices of torte, four bread rolls and one coffee. For the record - I only ate two half slices of cake whilst he finished it all off. 😀 Bread rolls for the house.Once I've landed I'm off to my hotel for a rest. I'll catch up on all the daily threads there, I've glanced over today's and sad to see harsh comments about 'illegal' immigrants. This is the kind board, or it always was.Happy rest of Tuesday to all.14

Have a safe flight Gers look forward to hearing more news of your travels12

Heard from Mr F who had to be at the hospital at noon - he has had preliminary checks by nurse and is waiting for the Anaethetist - so no idea what time he will return home.
I have been to membership class followed by lunch and Bible study at the SA. The Victoria sandwich was well received and all went.
Had an incident last night - flushed the downstairs toilet and it wouldn't stop filling. It is a built in toilet so no just taking off the top to adjust the ball !!!!!!. I found a You Tube video and managed to get into the workings and sort the issue - Mr F is not practical and was turning out a cupboard in the garage hunting for the means to turn off the water to the whole house.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45
