Storm damage to Conservatory

Upgraded to glass roof on our conservatory July 2020. Storm Franklin caused finial to be ripped off and now when it rains water drips in . Have been trying for 2 weeks to get firm who installed it to come round but they keep fobbing us off by telling us it’s not emergency.
Having never claimed on house insurance we were wondering whether to get in touch with them to make a start with a claim although don’t know how much it’s going to cost because of firm not coming to see damage.
Question is do you think we can go and try another firm to come around or wait to see what Insurance company says.

Depending on the amount of excess you have to pay, it probably won't be worth claiming on insurance. Has the whole length of the finial been ripped off or just a section? If just a section, can it be reached from a ladder and gaffer/duck tape used as a temporary repair? I doubt your insurer will get to you any faster than a local contractor.

The whole length of the finial has come off from the track it was attached to and beyond repair. It’s torn off from the wall.0
