DVLA - Registration confusion

Hi there, I purchased a second hand car about 4 weeks ago and registered/taxed it with the DVLA using the online service. About a week later my new V5 arrived - Happy Days!

This morning, I received an acknowledgement from the DVLA that  they have updated their records and I am no longer the registered keeper. After a heated web chat with their 'Help' line I now have a case reference number and have been advised that the registration record is 'incomplete' and I can't drive the car until they have completed their investigation which may take 6 weeks. The registration does not show up in searches for Tax or MOT status on the DVLA website ( it did when i bought the car).

I can't avoid going into work as I work in blood transfusion and am classed as a key worker, but my round trip for work is 80 miles and I now don't have a useable car.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Did you buy the car from a dealer?

It sounds like they think it may be a clone?

That wouldn't necessarily mean the records to the genuine car are blocked.

How do they know which one is genuine?

I can answer how they establish that now but I know what they used to to.

Can you imagine them suspending the record against a genuine vehicle, when they suspect one of two being a clone and the impact it could have on the owner of the genuine car?
