Faulty Meter - Useless Scottish Power - Worst ever company.

I've had to log an official complaint to Scottish Power as I've reported since November that my gas meter does not move at all and yet they literally don't care.

I've had 6 live chat, with picture, 4 phone calls, 3 promised calls with a meter specalist, 1 complaint call booked and they never called And one appointment for an engineer to look at my meter and it was cancelled a day after they booked it.

Absolutley shocking service! At my whits end what to do next. I'm in credit but it's no genuine as my meter does move and I've been so good not using gas. If they dare estimate my bill, I will explode.

Unfortunately they are likely to estimate the use when they get around to fixing it.
You can challenge their estimate of course and you can take your compliant to the Ombudsman once you've completed their complaints process if the outcome is unsatisfactory.

  • I absolutley will do for sure. I'm just so stuck at the moment. I want to leave them and take the credit, but I doubt I can join a new provider with this hanging over.

They may actually want to bloody fix it if I say I'm leaving. I just can't comprehend that it's in thier interest, but they can't be bothered to even call me.

Arrange an upgrade to a smart meter - that should resolve it.

... and if you're lucky they will never bill you for the unmetered use - a win!

Do make sure to take a photo of the old meter reading on the day they fit the smart meter if you go that route, it could prove useful later :)

A lot of suppliers are exactly the same.
Constantly see the same faulty meters quarter after quarter.

  • I have a smart meter which British gas installed in March 21. The electric feeds in but the gas doesn't, so... Yeah. Theres also no appointments for a new meter, or equally anyone to come look at my meter at all.
