Distance Selling company refusing refund because it was damaged by the courier on return.

    Is that a solid wood, unfinished door? (i.e. it would need drilled, cut and dressed upon fitting). IMHO they are having a laugh if they believe that amount of damage makes the door worthless.

    Raise a complaint with the courier - you have the photos above as evidence of the damage.

    it's a solid core but oak laminated, so I wouldn't be expecting a full refund, having said I would need to sand that damage off to get it to fit, so can't believe it's now worthless.

    The second one seems to show considerable damage to the surface.  That probably would make the door unusable.

    I agree, I think they don't want to refund because the door can't be sold as new. 

    OP where did you buy from? 

    Only my opinion but I think the courier will likely say the goods weren't packaged well enough (because if they were they wouldn't be damaged like that), when it comes to packaging the door company are working on cost, time and risk where as you had odds of either 100% success or 100% failure and bad luck fell on your side.
