Why aren’t export prices increasing?

I’m sure there’s a reason but why doesn’t the export rate for electricity increase at all? Especially with all the increases we’ve had for import rates recently.

    Export prices have increased.
If you're not benefitting, perhaps you're with the wrong supplier?

I'm currently on Octopus Outgoing Smart Export Guarantee and get 4.1p, having increased from 3p!

Think I'm limited by the fact I'm on Octopus Go.

Outgoing octopus follows wholesale prices to a degree, so if they go up, so does the agile export, last couple of days its been 30p+

Yes, that'll be why; Octopus have a lower export rate for Go customers.

If you lived in the USA you would be getting 90-100 percent back for export into the grid and smart meters can be set up to do this in the UK. The reason is that consumers have been ripped off for decades in the UK, solar could be transformed if consumers were fully credited via smart meters for all the electricity pv generates for new installations.

How exactly is someone with a 4kWp array who is paid over £2000 a year on FITs being ‘ripped off’?

The problem with renewable energy is that it is difficult to control. Let us assume that the wind is howling; it is a cloudless sky in May and everything that can generate is generating. Supply exceeds demand and wind turbine operators are being paid to feather the blades on their turbines. Clearly, PV solar is more difficult to control so suppliers will pay for every kWh exported to the Grid as recorded by a smart meter irrespective of weather conditions.

Even those on FITs can elect to forego their 50% deemed export payment in favour of 100% SEG. Whether it makes sense to do so, is for the householder to determine. Note if the decision to move to SEG is made, the generation FIT payment for every kWh is retained.

Under SEG, people can make a lot of money can be made by selecting the Octopus Agile Outgoing tariff.

PS: I should have added that the increase in export payments under the FIT Scheme is covered by legislation and it is term of the contract signed when the application for FIT and deemed export payments was made.
