I didnt realise there was a need to renew it, got no renewal notice.
I dont have a valid passport so cant renew it online, and I believe I need the reminder letter to apply for a license renewal at the post office!
Yes you can:

It's also only the photo expiring, not the licence unless you're over 70.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.1 -

Personally I think it looks worse if someone is unemployed, than needing to serve a 1 month notice (which is completely normal).
Depends on the reasons for being unemployed. If it's due to a recent redundancy then it can be a big advantage as you are able to start immediately.

Not what the Government website suggests - Motorists reminded of the importance in renewing their photocard driving licences - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)MovingForwards said:Jimmy_Boy said:Well this is a pain in the backside. The job is a driving job and upon checking my driving license, it expired TODAY!

I had a 'Webchat' with DVLA and they advised to apply via post office. They said there are 2 parts, section 4 and section 11. Section 4 is the 10 year bit, and section 11 the Age 70 bit (I think). They said I can continue to drive if I have applied for a renewal based on section 11. I clarified with the webchat person 'To clarify... if I apply for a renewal at the Post Office, I can continue to drive while I wait for the License?' to which I got a reply of 'Yes'.General_Grant said:

Unfortunately I did not manage to get a copy of this webchat as the chat ended shortly after and all the text was removed. I was going to copy it as 'evidence' but didnt get the opportunity.0 -
But if you hadn't applied and the licence passed its expiry date then you would not have been licensed to drive.Jimmy_Boy said:

Have a read of https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/695575/inf188x6-can-i-drive-while-my-application-is-with-dvla.pdf
It explains when you can still drive whilst they are processing a renewal.0 -
Thanks for the link. I don’t gave time to read it at work but will when I finish at 2am.
Could anyone answer with a simple yes or no - ‘if my license expired on 7th Mar 22 and I sent a renew application at the post office on 8th Mar 22, can I drive while DVLA process my renewal?’
Thanks0 -
Yes you can still drive while waiting for your replacement licence, provided you're not disqualified or having a medical condition reported to the DVLA which they need to review etc.
My photo card expired before Christmas, however due to personal circumstances (bereavement, funeral etc), I didn't renew it until a few months later. I had a reminder letter from the DVLA about renewing it and how I COULD face upto a £1k fine. It was done at the PO on the Saturday and delivered the Thursday. Not heard further from the DVLA.
