To assist in being able to keep track of current gas and electricity prices are there any good websites that show the current price per unit in kWh? The total annual average prices you see mentioned in the media I find not very helpful as it doesn't tell you what the underlying prices actually is if it is just based on averages.

Your supplier website will show you. Any of the comparison sites will show the unit price for each supplier. There is no actual cap on unit price but a cap on the daily charge and total bill at the set annual kWh. The current cap is here https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/sites/default/files/2021-08/Default tariff cap level - 1 October 2021 - 31 March 2022.pdf. To calculate the unit price deduct daily charge from total price and divide by relevant kWh.The April cap is here https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/sites/default/files/2022-02/Default tariff cap level - 1 April 2022 - 30 September 2022.pdfE7 unit rates are more difficult as that is based on a 58% day 42% night split and leaves some wiggle room for the suppliers to play with the unit prices.
