When I was in a 1 bed I dried things on a big 3 tier airer stood by the heater - it was big enough to fling a double duvet cover over the top and down one side, and have the fitted sheet mostly laid on the bottom shelf with pillowcases hung over another shelf.
Heated airers are great, I rather wish I'd got one of the big square shape ones instead of the wing type as I think you get more usable space for the floor area.  They are annoying to store though - I used to hide mine behind a fridge freezer!
Ceiling hung would also be brilliant for towels etc and is definitely on my list for the kitchen.

I think rising energy costs is a good reason to do less housework and switch it to non appliance. Eg use a stiff dustpan and brush instead of hoover.  Dont iron apart from work shirts.  I have started to re use my bath water to clean bathroom. Wash less and do less washing.  Its what was done in the 1970s and cant remember anyone being dirty particularly. The plus side is we are not wasting energy which has got to be a good thing.

Not a tip for large loads of washing but hanging suitable clothing  on a coat hanger in a door way works for me

Hoovering is my worst chore but with fine hair that seems to shed all over and three cats its a must, I alternate as much as  I can with my rugs by using one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/Remover-Carpet-Gadom-Clothes-Portable/dp/B0953HR9P2/ref=asc_df_B0953HR9P2/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=525620325273&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15381546749785621878&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9046357&hvtargid=pla-1310644632933&th=1, take a bit of effort but works a treat and gives a really good result

Oh thanks, I've looked at those and dithered about whether they'd work so will give them a try.

A rubber washing up glove works really well for getting cat fur off most fabric surfaces. Short brushing motions with your hand in one direction for a bit then at right angles works a treat
