Home improvement

I am currently looking to have my kitchen replaced with a new cabinets and sink etc. purchase and install all that I need. I received a quote from Wren kitchens and they came out measured up sent to me a copy of the new design and measurements and plans etc. The amount they quoted far exceeded the amount I had budgeted for and turned them down.

I am still in receipt of the plans and measurements.

My question is am I allowed to pass the plans and measurements on to another kitchen fitter? or would I be in default of any copy right issues.

Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I would have thought they would ask for the plans back if there were any issues

The dimensions are your own data. The plans could be considered copyright of Wren, but they are unlikely to pursue you for any breach if you used them as a basis for another layout. A kitchen, after all, has a limited number of options... You may well find another designer comes up with a better plan and if you post it here, I'm sure you'll get other opinions.

It would be quite easy to check them, and worth doing to avoid any problems arising from any errors.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

You've been given the plans, I assume Wren haven't requested their return nor did they ask you to sign any confidentiality agreement. Showing them to whoever you want will be fine. I would also expect your design to change as you go to different people. Mine certainly did; I saw 2 'designers' in large retailers then put my own then finalising the design with the manager of a small kitchen manufacturing co. Though neither design was great some ideas from both made it to the actual kitchen layout, it could be argued the final design was an evolution of the 1st but then windows, doors and plumbing dictate a lot of the layout.

Avoid Wren unless you want a hefty migraine. They are all fur coat when it comes to selling but don't deliver on their promises.
