Hi. I'm looking for some advise on a cheap tablet.
Either 10" or 12".
Just for surfing the net and watching Netflix.
With an SD slot.
I'm new to all this so any information would be grateful.
Thank you.

Do you need a new one? If not, search on eBay for 10 inch android tablet (or 12 inch).1

Amazon Fire tablets are reckoned by many to be very good value but I've never laid hands on one. In terms of tablets in general I suspect a 12 inch one would be a lot more expensive than a 10 inch.1

An Amazon Fire HD10 Tablet may be a good consideration. Its decent value for money, gets a decent amount of ongoing support and would do what you want.1

my wife is more than happy with her Kindle Fire10 HD.
I've got a Samsung Galaxy Tab2 10 and TBH there's not that much difference except that the Kindles still gets the occasional update whereas the Samsung updates stopped several years ago and cost about three times as much.
The Fire doesn't run pure Android but she's never had any problemsNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers1 -
Get an Amazon Fire or Samsung. Whatever you do keep away from the cheap generic brands - they’re all crap and slow!1

Thanks. I know kindle isn't as good as android
Can you still use apps like mobile banking on the kindle etc.
I wanted to be able to use the tablet for apps, watching films, downloading films and photozSo basically everything my android phone can do except make calls0 -
As it comes you are restricted to the limited range of Apps in the Amazon App store.ImDoingItForMe said:Thanks. I know kindle isn't as good as android

It is fairly easy to "sideload" the Google Play Store (plenty of guides online about how to do it) which hugely widens the range and works almost seamlessly.
Unless you pay extra your get Amazon adds on the lock screen. It is difficult / impossible to properly install a different Launcher so you are stuck with Amazon's offering.
There are a lot of Amazon "Bloatware" apps which you cannot remove. Software / hacks are around that let you disable these apps which helps a bit.
There are reports of issues on some version with the SD card slot.0 -
Thank you Undervalued for this information.
I think I'll stick with Android.
Is Lenovo a good make?0
