Of course you do have to be over 50 but i fear there are a lot of us about!! The best feature, and the reason i opened it ,is it is fixed at 6.40% for 12 months.I know there are better accounts at present but when rates start to drop this one will still be good, and you can move money in and out as you wish.If after 12 months the rate drops sharply then it will be easy enough to move on.

I opened one of these and experienced major problems with logging on. I entered my password and memorable thingys correctly (I double checked them first) and the system locked me out. It then took four days for them to send me a new form which I had to complete and send back. I have not heard yet. When I do, I will log in and transfer to my NR Silver Savings at 6.49%. Ok, it's not fixed, but I can get into the account without problems.
  • I've several online accounts (incl NR Silver) and I don't think CBS are better or worse than anyone else when it comes to logging in etc. The good thing about them is they transfer money in 2 days whereas most others take 3 or 4. The bad thing is that each payment has to be authorised individually (on Cov First anyway).
