in Credit cards
Hi all!
So I've been tackling my cards recently and my Aqua card statement came out on the 15th Feb. I paid £200 on the 17th. I have a direct debit set up to pay £50 which is always more than the minimum payment.
The direct debit was due on the 4th but hasn't been taken but it still says £28 is due. Do I need to manually pay the £28 (which i think is their 'recommended payment' rather than minimum) or because I paid the £200 on the 17th it's covered? I don't want to get a late payment mark!
Thanks everyone!

I found out from Lloyds that if you make a payment (e.g. a balance transfer in my case) after the statement, before the DD is due, they don't actually take it for some reason. I would speak to them and check if Aqua are the same as they might not take the DD in which case you might get charged interest on the balance (note: they charge interest on the whole monthly statement balance normally, even if you pay most of it). As you paid after the statement, you won't get a late payment marker however.

Lovely! I wonder if that's the case then! I couldn't stand the worry so paid the £28 just in case this morning 😂 thank you for replying!Life is too short not to love what you do.0

For future reference, when your statement comes out it shows you the balance and also the minimum amount you have to pay.
You paid £200 which more than covers the minimum amount so you would not have been charged anything or had a missed payment marker. They don't update the '£28 due' message.
As for if they would take the £50DD - this depends on the bank. Some take the DD anyway, even if you have paid something. Others work out that you have paid and so don't take the DD.1 -
Thank you! I figured that would probably be the case but I didn't want to risk it for the sake of less than 30 quid 😅 funny how your brain changes, old me would have been like ooh free money! But at least it's another £28 off the balance!Life is too short not to love what you do.0

I paid my full balance on my aqua card by card and I have a direct debit set up for full statement balance as a safety net - they sent me an email saying the they had changed the direct debit to 0.00 because of payments made which makes sense and is what I expected to happen. So maybe check your spam folder or notifications settings on your account as they do seem to send emails telling you what they are going to do.1
