OVO should I fix?

My partner and I have been trying to get on the property ladder but still saving as house prices keep going up.

We aren't currently on a fixed energy after our OVO fix ran out a couple of years ago. We currently pay £100 p/m but the fix is £200+ p/m. I looked at Scottish Power and their fix is well over £300 p/m !!!!!!?!

I'm worried if we don't fix that we'll end up paying hundreds each month by the end of the year and we just can't afford that.

You need to compare any tariff against the April 1st capped rate in kWh. Then factor in the possible October increase, with any fixed tariff rate, which will be higher.

Fixes are expensive at the moment. The variable rate will be cheaper through the summer to October.
Prices are likely to rise in October but no-one knows how much by.

The way things are going these fixes may look cheap by the time the October fix is announced in August.

You pays your money and takes a chance.

The local petrol station is currently charging 175p for diesel, albeit they are not the cheapest but I can see these prices being reached across the board this month (generally about 152-3p with us).

Look at previous bills for the last 12 months and look at how you could cut usage by turning appliances off at the socket rather than putting them in standby, the exceptions are the fridge, freezer and router. If the place has gas central heating turning the thermostat down to 18 degrees and the boiler temperatures to 50degrees for water and 55 degrees for heating.

Most appliances use more power in standby than the manual states. My cheapest fix with Octopus is for £76 per month compared to just £61 when I moved to them after Avro went under in Sept. 21
Someone please tell me what money is
