Just moved house - how do I deal with taking over the old supply?

Hi everyone,
I moved flat on the 21st Feb. I told my old supplier (OTM) that I was going to move, but they've messed me around a bit and seemingly lost the application, so they only took the closing readings today after I followed up on it. The new flat is supplied by SSE.
I want to stay on SSE's SVT until April 1st and then re-assess the situation, but when I try signing up on their site, the only option offered is to fix for 12 months. At the same time, I do need to do something, because I got a paper bill today dated from 23rd Jan - 23rd Feb (i.e. I am responsible for 2 days of it). How can I navigate this so that I avoid fixing the price for 12 months, but also don't end up paying a month that wasn't my responsibility?
Thanks!

phone SSE, explain you've moved into a property supplied by them. Provide them meter readings and date of move and request to stay on the SVT.

As a new user on a deemed tariff you are entitled to stay on the SVT. If you can't do it online, I think the only option is the torture of ringing their customer services number. Don't take no for an answer. Good luck!

Ah, good. As long as they can't force me to join the fixed tariff I think I'll be okay. Cheers!

Just a thought. SSE were taken over by Ovo. Have you tried Ovo's site to try and sign up on?Or did you mean Scottish Power? They're a different company, and I seem to remember seeing posts that said they try to bamboozle people out of their SVT rights.0

SSE have an online chat using Whatsapp. You might find them more responsive than waiting on the phone.0
