Smart meter malfunction

On Tuesday 1st March at 7.00pm approximately my storage heaters became very hot i checked the remote display and it was registering 4.88Kw so i turned down the thermostats on the storage heaters and the reading dropped below 1Kw, so it seems the smart meter had switched in the economy 7 mode but charging me the day tariff.
I reported this to EDF but they couldn't come up with an explanation. I believe this happened on a number of days before i took any notice of the problem, but since i reported it it hasn't happened again. Has anyone else experienced this problem.

What is your smart meter setup? Are you on a switched E7, or a time of use E7 system?

How many cables are there at the meter - 4 or 5.   ?

Have you verified that you were charged at the day rate for that use?
The ALCS that switches the E7 circuit can be tied to the register change so even if it was at the wrong time, the register may have changed at the same time. (assuming your E7 circuit is being switched by the ALCS build into the meter).
You should be able to see this on your account as long as you have half-hour data enabled.
