Early termination fee from BT

I rang about a SIM only deal from BT as my old phone deal with handset was old and had bought a handset. I was also asked if I'd like a new deal on the broadband, I did explain we were selling the house but told I could take the deal with me. I am now homeless and being charged £591.98 for early termination fee. Can I challenge this as there is no way I can pay that amount. I was never asked if I was on Universal Credit either when haggling for the cheapest deals and certainly not in the last conversation. I pointed this out and was told it was advertised on their pages and I should have seen it.

It basically boils down to: Not the provider's fault you moved and not the provider's fault you have moved (or not moved in your particular case) somewhere they don't supply.UC has nothing to do with this.So if you're apparently homeless and without internet then where are you posting this from?0

If you explained you were selling your home , and they said you can take the deal to your new address, then why don’t you do that ?, simply use BT at your new address.
Its pretty clear that a new minimum term was the basis on which you we’re offered the new discounted contract, which is pretty much industry common practice, if you we’re never going to use BT at your new address , or for whatever reason were unlikely to ever see out the new minimum term , then why did you take a new contract at all ?
Basically if you knew you were moving out and not immediately moving into somewhere else, why were you trying to negotiate a new deal in the first place , once you had took out a new contract the onus is on you to keep to your side of the contract , which is remaining a customer for the minimum period, if you don’t remain a customer , you are liable for quitting before the minimum term has expired0
