Economy 7 (ECO 7) Anyone seen the new tariffs from their current provider

Hi All

I was wondering if anyone had received their new quote for the new rates for Eco7. I noticed on mine that the night rate has increased disproportionately to the day rate and standing charge and was wondering if a) there were providers doing cheaper night rates b) whether the industry standard mix between day and night was changing in line with Savvy customers and electric vehicle users. Is it the mix or is it Utility Warehouse profiteering?

Current prices until 31 March 2022
Rate (per kWh)
Night 7.56 p
Day 27.189 p
Standing 25.682 p

New prices from 1 April 2022
Night 17.787 p - 2.35x
Day 31.784 p - 1.17x
Standing 46.876 p - 1.83x

Any help appreciated.

not sure of rates though last nights SP new tariff 'offer' is alarming as single person.
    Eco7 Electric only.

winter bills 100 pounds per month range.
    New tariff-
1 yr fixed 2k per year/2xx per month DD.

I'm fixed anyway until May 2023 so not changing as yet.
I 'll re check unit cost's once April rates are known.

    thanks

That would be great thank you. It seems to me that Utility Warehouse were under cutting the market on Eco7 as the next best was circa 12.5p for night rate unless you could get on a special EV rate with Octopus or another provider.

My guess would be UW got wise upped it to 12.5p and then added 50% ish.

Ahhh….Utility Warehouse! Yes - that increase to the night rate is painful isn’t it, as 70% night rate users we’re going to be feeling the pinch on that one.

I’m just trying to remind myself that we’ve had a decent run of lower prices and had we ended up anywhere else we’d almost certainly have been paying a LOT more right through  this winter as well.

My suspicion is that they originally set their rates assuming that people would use closer to the average which I think is 52% day/48% night - or it may be the other way round. Anyway - I’m guessing they’ve had a lot of customers arriving over the last year who use far more on that night rate (possibly due to increased numbers of EVs), and so the discrepancy we’ve benefited from previously is being ironed out.

I certainly haven’t found any other provider offering anything any better - a
thought would be a struggle to get anyone else to agree to take you on the variable rate at the moment, anyway.
