Shell rates higher than the price cap for upto March 31st 2022???
Hi
I've been transferred from Pure Planet to Shell Energy (lucky me!). The prices for Shell seem to be above the current price cap which I thought was a legal limit, but I can't get an answer out of Shell. The rates are: (my rate vs. price cap)
ELEC
Per unit: 21.607 vs 20.8p p/unit
Standing charge 25.66 vs 24.88p/pday
GAS
Per unit: 4.197 vs 4.07 p/per unit
26.11 p/pday vs 26.12 p/per unit (this ones ok)
Any thoughts would be very grateful - I thought to go above the Ofgem price cap was illegal?

The cap is not one number for everyone, it varies by region, by method of payment and by metering type for electricity. The news reports all use a single average for simplicity, but it is an average and some will be higher or lower.Your rates look fine for the South Western region for example... also others would be higher, like Yorkshire or Northern Scotland...0

The price cap varies per region.
Those unit rates are correct the price cap for your region.0 -
At first glance the figures you are listing appear to be the average price cap rates. There are individual rates for each region. You need to specify the region you are in and how you pay to verify the rates under the cap. I am with Shell and the rates I have had are correct for this period and the one starting on 1st April.0

The regional differences will be the answer here, and or info. I also went from Pure Planet to Shell and the rates were correct, and for 1 April top.0
