Utility Warehouse

Does anyone have experience of Utility Warehouse? They are offering a variable rate which is £160/month which is significantly cheaper than other deals around at the moment (based on standard gas 12000 pa and electric 2900 pa). I just thought I’d check if anyone else is using them and your thoughts before I switch. Thanks

    Welcome to the forum.
Utility Warehouse's variable rates aren't significantly cheaper than anyone else's at the moment. Are you sure you're doing a straight like-for-like comparison?
They do give you a discount on the standing charge - a few pence a day - if you take your phone line, broadband and mobile phone with them as well but some people find they can get those services cheaper elsewhere.

The capped variable rate for that consumption is around £1971/yr, which is £164/month. A capped variable rate will be available from your current supplier at that price.

Their billing is a nightmare, and they don't have an app that has any form of practical application beyond submitting meter readings. I'd also say that although we've been better off being with them over the last six months or so, that won't continue now as of course they don't have loyalty deals to offer - and over the last couple of months I've watched customers of almost all other companies getting offered deals which - had they been open to us - I would have taken.

You can save a little on their standard "value" tariff by taking other utilities like broadband or mobile with them but that's a bit more "eggs in one basket" than I'm comfortable with personally.

Have they saved us money since we've been with them? Yes.
Would I go with them again, having dealt with them for a while? No, honestly probably not.
