Links to sites won't open maximised

Hi hope you all know what I mean here. When I had Internet explorer 6 and something would happen to make your links to pages always open minimized, if you then stretched it out and went to file and then clicked on close the next time you went onto a link it opened maxed. Well I have now internet explorer 7 and something has caused this to happen again but I now can't find a way to click on file and exit as I can't find it anywhere in the tools menu or anywhere else. So how do I do this now as its a pain to always have to click on the top to maximise.
Thankyou in anticipation.
Edited to say that this happened after installing windows latest updates.

To open Internet Explorer in a maximised window
For the initial window:
Right click on the Internet Explorer icon on your taskbar and click Properties
In the Run field, choose the maximized option.
Click Apply then ok.
To maximize new windows:
In the existing Internet Explorer Window,
Right click on a link and click open in New Window
After you have opened the new window, close the original (and any other IE windows except the new one).
Resize the new window (drag the edges) to the largest possible size, then close that window.
Now reload IE and try opening a new window0 -
Thank you Red Rose it worked fine!
I still think it is something to do with the latest windows update though as I saw on another forum that someone had the same problem since the update. But at least what you said fixed mine.0
