British Gas Price Cap

I was on a fix until the 28th Feb, I then moved over to the standard variable as per Martins advice. Looking at my account today I can see they are charging me the April price cap and not the March price cap. I got in touch with BG on their live chat and was informed that this was correct and in April my rates will rise again. How is the possible? I thought the cap was there for a reason? I have no idea what to do now.

Rates as follows:

Gas
Unit - 7.367
Standing charge - 27.865

Elec
Unit - 27.220
Standing Charge - 48.127

They are quoting the new rates for April on their website but you won't be charged them until April. They probably didn't understand you.

Surely this is misinformation then? And if that’s the case I’ve got to wait until August to confirm if they have charged me correctly or not? 😞

There is usually a note on the page somewhere explaining that this is the rate from April 1st.

There are no available fixes on their website to compare anything too.
