Does anyone know anything about digital phone networks?
We live in a new house which is fibre to premises, there are no phone points and the phones work digitally from the built-in modem or Wi-Fi router with no telephone connections. We have since changed from a BT router to Vodafone router and now the phones don't work. A call to Vodafone technical assures me that they will work and there is a connection on the router for phone output but I'm not quite sure where to go from there anyone using digital phones have a clue how to connect these up?

Are you trying to use an older phone that you would have previously plugged in to the wall socket or did BT supply their wireless digital voice phones?

Does your Vodafone router have a phone port on the back like the green one here:

When you say the phones work digitally from the router, is that wireless or do they have base stations that are plugged into the router?

It is possible, but without knowing more details hard to be sure, that the phones you had before are locked somehow to the old service, possibly because you were paying for that service and are not now.

One radical idea, drop the phones entirely and use your mobiles on WiFi calling.  Will save you money and lets you use your mobile phones to make/receive calls at no additional cost over your mobile contract (assuming these are unlimited calls, as most mobile packages are now).

If you had a BT Digital Voice phone or BT DV adapter then they will only work with the BT Hub. However a conventional plug in phone or DECT phone will work by plugging it into the phone socket on the back of the router.

We've just changed from BT to Vodafone and just pulled the phone plug out of the BT router and connected it to the Vodafone router, but for some reason the Vodafone router doesn't have a BT socket. The phone cable needs an adapter to convert the BT  plug to to suit the VF router. Alternatively you could change the cable on the phone.

We've got our original DECT phones plugged in and they work perfectly including caller line identifcation, call blocking.and the answering function The DECT base station sits next to the router and our old DECT phones are in their previous locations in the lounge, study and bedroom.

This is the back of my Vodafone router and the phone or base station plugs into the green socket marked TEL 1

The phone socket on BT router (also Green if I remember) accepted the larger plug as shown below but the VF needs the smaller one. so either change the phone cable for one with the smaller connector each end or get an adapter

That looks like the same info the vodafone engineer must have used because she also suggested plugging my phone digital phone directly into the router and trail the wire all through my home 60s style 😁

Yeap we already use or mobile for calls which is why I only noticed the landlines weren't working after switching to Vodafone over a month ago, but they did say that would work fine and some callers use or landline number

We don't have a dect phones, pure digital no wires, seems Vodafone don't support them despite assurances from the sales rep. I even asked whether they had a special router to support them and was assured that would work. Looks like it won't happen
