Hi everyone,
I'm back from my day and a half of toddler wrangling. Poor little boy had a bad cough which kept him awake for half of Tuesday night. I eventually heard him at 4 and went to rescue Laura. I put him in the bed with me and we listened to a couple of songs on my phone, by the third he was asleep but I, of course was wide awake for the next three hours. Despite that we had a lovely day together, playing with his trains, ball run, sticker and colouring books. We danced for a while because we couldn't go to the park because of the rain and he has oodles of energy.
I brought two huge bags of washing home with me because their washing machine has broken down. hopefully they will get it fixed in the next couple of days. Laura just sent some photos of Esben dressed up as a bat for World Book Day, she made him a top with bat wings on and he looks very cute. Two of his favourite books are I am Bat and Bat can't sleep, both brilliant books.
Steve's got an appointment for an endoscopy this afternoon, we're not concerned but he's been left with acid reflux since his treatment and the doctor wanted to investigate. Brilliant service because he only spoke to them a couple of weeks ago.
Csarina, enjoy your retreat. TA have a good sleepover with the girls, I too can't believe your GD is 17.
Have a good day.

Morning all. The weather here today is dull and drab, not much of a breeze but at least it's not raining - yet.
It's sheep shearing day today at the hairdressers - well, just a trim really - and I'll combine that with a couple of other jobs while I'm out. I have a carrier bag for the CS to drop off first and then need to pop into the PO after. I must remember to take my brolly too, just in case.
Dinner tonight is pork steaks in BBQ sauce, jacket spuds and green beans. Not sure about afters but I'll find something if we need anything - there's always fruit.
Last night the young chap over the road was having problems with his van alarm that kept going off for no apparent reason, thank goodness he got it sorted out before bedtime. Then this morning we were woken early doors by workmen at the house facing us. They're putting up a new fence to replace the one blown down by the recent storms. It's quite a swish affair and looks much sturdier than the old one so I hope this one stays put.
RedRuby - Good job you remembered about the MOT.
TA - Glad you enjoyed your soggy day out in Skipton. I haven't been there for ages.
RosyRed - Grrr, to the Mr T delivery let down.
Right, time to get a wriggle on with a few jobs before I go out. Hope everyone has a good day or at least as good as you can. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.13 -
Morning all
Had a pottering about morning - will have to get ready for work after this - DD is going to give me a lift down. I'm finding it very tiring, even though I'm only there for a few hours. Going to do just afternoons again next week too.
The news from Ukraine is terrible - I'm trying to limit what I read and watch. I've donated to the lorries that are leaving our town today for the border with Poland.
It's hard to imagine that these people were living normal lives just like us before this started.
I too had a Book Day costume to 'design' for little one after work yesterday. We decided on Little Red Riding Hood - a red tartan dress with red tights, topped by a red hooded towel, that's quite short on her now and was in the charity shop bag.
I found a basket and made a handle for it with ribbon. We made some paper flowers to go in it and then she added two wooden cupcakes from her kitchen.
She was so excited to show DD when she picked her up.
I was pleased DD didn't just go to the supermarket to buy a costume - they're so expensive just to wear for one day.
Right I better go and get dressed.
Hope everyone has a good day. Take care x

Morning all, surprise, surprise, we have more rain today 🙁 The Mediterranean chicken and veg was lovely and the party food was a nice treat. Dad went home a happy boy with some of each so that will keep him fed for a few days. We sorted out his council tax and he's also had a letter addressed to his mother but sent to Dad's address ( Nan never lived there) about an insurance policy she took out in the early 1930's. I would have thought they would have realised she would be dead by now and addressed it to Dad instead (she was born in 1903 😱) Anyway we'll have to go and ransack his house to find said policy as he thought I had it, but I don't, I have no reason to have it. He did bring us a present each though........I got a radiator brush and Mr Fix It had some mushrooms 😂
I have to put the dw on today and later cook some tea, no idea yet as to what we'll have but there's some party food left over for lunch. I will be going to start my new jigsaw " Cats in the Kitchen " this afternoon and himself will be taking over the spare room again, so a nice quiet day ahead.
Hugs to Bella, and Maddie and good luck to Snoozer's Steve.
Naughty RedRuby please make your way to the naughty step 🤣
Take care all.

Morning all. No car, he promises tomorrow. More taxis. More annoyed than ever. But hey, I am alive, I have legs, they can take me places, like the bus stop. A friends birthday today, didn't have clue what to get him apart from a couple of small items, was hoping to have car back to go present shopping, so now will have to reassess. There's not much point in going to town because there's nothing there any more. Chinese at his house tonight so I can use up my leftover cabbage and mash from last night [we had it with sausages] tomorrow night in a colcannon type thing.Snoozer, welcome back after you hours of trials and tribulations and baby wrangling..
bella, it must be so stressful for you and for him. Sunflower, I think every town or village has some kind of collection going on at the moment. Here a couple of logisitics firms have also offered their lorries and time and drivers for free to take the donations. I am so proud of us all that we are doing what we can to help, however little it is because it all adds up in the end. Five people donating, not much, five hundred thousand, big old heap of stuff. Maddie, hugs. Nanny, it's taken them a while to write to him! Right, time to shift, it was a few hours ago I started this but easily distracted me has been flitting around from thing to another...Have a good day if you can...

Nanny, we had something similar. About 3 years after mum died I had a letter about a policy dad had taken out in the 70s. It was sent to the Yorkshire House which isn't our main residence and was only bought after dad died so how they tracked me down there I don't know. We didn't have a policy but sent both death certificates and the probate form and they paid out.

Afternoon from a bright and dry Glasgow. The drive down was uneventful and peaceful, then I buzzed round doing my various tasks and now I'm in my lovely hotel. I'm here for two nights and fly on early Saturday morning.Maddie - my thoughts are with your beloved Mum, Iris, on her birthday. I hope your memories are happy ones. 🌺14

My eldest Dgd is 21 today and still in South Africa on Uni placement.
My eldest Ds is 50 next week so I need to get cracking on a card for him.
Having a day indoors - first for a week. Sorted out a lift home from hospital for Mr F next week after his biopsy. I am not allowed into the hospital with him and we have no idea what time he will be discharged. Mr F's leg is still very red and painful.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45
