It will vary by region but on average:
    • For gas, if you use more than 100kWh/yr (8.5kWh/month)  the April cap will be less.
    • For electricity, if you use more than 1000kWh/yr (85kWh/month) the April cap will be less.
Essentially, the fix is only cheaper if you use very little electricity and no appreciable gas.

I have the same offer and am wondering whether its worth considering the estimated October price cap is likely to be much higher and Will use much less energy from now until October anyway?

Agreed, deciding to stay on the variable....
  • I would stick with the variable at those fixed prices.
I still think come October there will be further support to keep prices broadly where they are from April, to date there has been little offered outside of the £150 CT rebate for A-D properties.

The £200 loan, is exactly that, money that needs to be repaid over 5 years, that tells me there is more support that can be made available closer to the time.

Going into winter with prices even higher than they are from April will be brutal for many, I would be very very surprised if nothing was done.

But maybe next time it will be more targeted to those on the capped tariff whose tariff will change in October.
