Energy providers simply estimate how much you are going to spend in a year (eg. £1227), divide this by 12, and offer that as your DD payment for 12 months, so £102/month for example. You may end up in credit or debit depending on your actual usage. Therefore the DD payment will be very different to your actual bill as you'll typically use more energy in the winter than in the summer.0
