The process to calculate peoples tax starts in early June and runs until November.  Your tax could be finalised at any time in that period.

My 20/21 assessment is still not done but my 21/22 is. Should I be concerned and notify them. Is there a time limit whereby they will just ignore that period.

Yes.  2017:18 would usually be ignored now.

Definitely for tax owed, not sure if you are owed a refund and HMRC had the information prior to 6 April 2022 when that tax year drops off the radar.

You're not the only one as Mrs Notepad is waiting for hers too. Not sure why it's taking so long as her tax affairs are fairly simple, but the personal tax account says something along the lines of 'We'll normally do it by the end of this tax year' so she's not concerned.

Now received letter showing tax position after actual interest received amount reduced. Think I’m owed a refund as overpaid tax this year, tax code changed downwards but not sure if I will be due a refund for the last seven months or if it will be ironed out/ refunded in the next five months through reduced tax collected.

Also think I’m due a refund for the 21/22 tax year but no mention of it so far.

If your tax code has been changed downwards that means you will pay more tax, not less.

By letter do you mean a tax calculation letter (P800/PA302) or a normal letter in response to some information you requested?

Downwards in the sense it was a K suffix not an L so the -amount reduced to -8K from about -170K The K is HMRC suffix not 1,000’s!

Its a tax calculation letter I have been waiting for.
