Switching bank ... will old bank credit cards remain valid?

He may have not heard you correctly, and just assumed you meant the debit card associated with the account.

The credit cards will remain valid and will not be closed because of the current account switch
Obviously check if you pay the credit card by DD that the DDs have been changed to point to your new account (or do it yourself manually). Watch out for there not being enough time for the credit card to take the new DD the first month and be prepared to make a manual payment
