Missing 2.83 in gas bill

Hi
This is my gas calculation from my bill for how much they charge me but I do not seem to have the 2.83 which is making my gas bill lower than other people I know.
I have used 100 units as an example
100 GAS UNITS USED X CALORIFIC VALUE (39.5) X VOLUME CORRECTION (1.02264) ÷ 3.6 = 1122 kWh
This is the calculation for someone I know
100 GAS UNITS USED X 2.83 X CALORIFIC VALUE (39.2) X VOLUME CORRECTION (1.02264) ÷ 3.6 = 3151 kWh
Does this mean that they will come after the missing money at some point?
This has been going on since I moved into a new house over a year ago
Thanks

Is your gas meter metric? If so, it won't have the 2.83 multiplier. The 2.83 multiplier is only applied to imperial gas meters, which measure in (hundreds of) cubic feet.N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Ripple Kirk Hill member.

As indicated above, for a metric meter(depending on calorific vale) a gas unit is approx 11.2kWh and an Imperial meter 31.7kWh.If you look at an Imperial meter it will indicate cu.ft1

Makes sense.
Will check and see what kind it is and thanks for that, I feel a bit more comfortable now.0 -
Somewhere on the face of the meter it should say m³ or ft³. The first is cubic metres, and doesn't need conversion. The second is hundreds of cubic feet, and needs the 2.83 conversion factor.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
Yes it does say m3
That has put an temporary end to the gray hairs :-)3
