Garage door help! Gleeson Homes

Hello,

Recently I purchased a house from Gleeson Homes but I’ve never owned a garage before thus I have no idea how to open it. If anyone who owns a Gleeson home can shed some light on this or anyone, I’d be most grateful. Thank you

Is it an electric door (no handle visible) or is their a handle on the door? Also is there a "personal door"(door for people access only)?
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

    Manual or electric?
    Pedestrian door access?
    Key provided? Remote control provided?

  • There is a door handle so it is a manual door. No key or remote provided. I can turn the handle upon unlocking it but then after that I have no idea. I've tried raising it from the bottom but to no success.

    Ask a neighbour?
I don't have any neighbours as of yet unfortunately. No one has moved in as they are just newly built
  • This isn't my garage door but this is what the garage door looks like on all the properties (got from google). I will try uploading a closer picture of the handle in the morning but any help as of now would be brilliant

Most likely an up and over so the top will pop in and the bottom out slightly and it will then pivot, so if its unlocked and you can turn the handle, turn it and pull the handle out (towards you) slightly which should make the bottom pop out and you'll then feel the direction of motion.

my old house I had to push the top half of the door in slightly to encourage it while turning the handle

Yes,pull;he handle out and upwards. Top of door will swing inwards and base of door will swich slightly out.
Try placing your other hand higher up above the handle and pushing slightly at the same time as pulling the handle out and up

The door will be from a third party company so it depends on what sort of door it is.

Looks like an up and over so the black handle is what opens it. It will either be a twist or pull out and twist.

Surely the developer is still onsite and one of the workmen could just show you?

We got a fairly good walkround of our new build from Bellway a few years back, he showed us everything including how to open the garage door.
  • Thank you for all the help everyone. Really appreciate it. Didn’t realise I had to push the top in and raise the bottom so thank you for those tips ☺️
