Driving test moved
Hello, I was wondering I'd anyone could offer any help on this situation.
My partner had his driving test booked for 10am this morning. Upon arrival at the test centre he found out that his test had been moved forward to 8am. They had emailed him a few days before hand to advise him. This email went into his junk folder and took some fishing to find it.
The test centre are saying he will have to book and pay for a new test, despite this not being his fault. They say it is his fault as he should have checked the time. He did on his original email, how is he supposed to know there was an email in the junk folder? The centre were quite rude and unhelpful.
I've advised him to contact DVLA and dispute this because I really can't see how this is his fault.
Has anyone experienced something similar and been successful in appealing?
He is nervous about driving anyway and this hadn't helped his confidence.
Thank you.

So they did email him(as they alleged) but his spam filter trapped the email and he didn't check. Although it is unfortunate I can't see it is anyone's fault but his so I can't see any appeal being successful.0

Would any sane person check their junk folder when they're not expecting an email though?
Weirdly he did get an email from them regarding the use of masks and that wasn't trapped in the junk.
I need need check with him as to when the email was sent. I don't believe it was 3 clear working days before as they state it should be so could be ground for appeal there.1 -
I should add that he didn't know about the email until his arrival at the test centre and it was the test centre who said to check the junk folder.
They're taking no responsibility which I find ridiculous as it was them who moved it.0 -

Should always check junk/spam folders. Filers can trap all sorts of important emails.Life in the slow lane4 -
I do check my junk folder daily due to once missing an important email, just as your partner has.4

I doubt whether DVSA will find in your favour. The simple answer is to set up your junk mail folder to forward everything to your Inbox so that you are in control of what is marked as junk rather than some software operating in the background. It does mean more manual work for you but you can never again complain that you didn't see an email,0
