New supplier for gas/electric - just moved!

We’ve just (yesterday) moved into the flat we’re renting and needing to get the gas/electric sorted - the previous tenants didn’t leave any details, so would just like to start fresh and keep our usage/bills completely separate to theirs etc.
With everything going on just now, what should we be looking out for when choosing supplier/best tariffs etc?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Take meter readings immediately.
You'll have to use the previous tenants supplier initially, if you don't know who they are then use the link below and then contact them to set up an account.0 -
You have to register with the existing supplier(s) and send them your opening readings.Find My Electricity Supplier (Two stage, find your DNO then they will tell you your supplierYou'll start on the Standard Variable Tariff which is capped. Most fixes are likely to be more expensive, so decline any inviation to leave the SVT, and probably not worth shopping around at the moment. See Martin's latest video for full info.0

contact Scottish Power, let them know you've moved in, give them your dtails and your move-in meter readings and (unless you fancy paying £285/month for the next year) insist on staying on the standard variable rate.
