Hi. My (no exit fees) EDF dual fuel deal ends on 31.03.22. I have had an email from them with their Standard Variable Rate from 01.04.22. It's close to double my existing deal. I'm wondering about giving notice to end my deal before 31.03.22 and taking up their current SVR rate before 01.04.22. Would this be likely to create a saving, or would moving to their SVR prior to 01.04.22 make no difference to the ongoing SVR rate? I'm probably confused! thanks for any help

Stick with your current deal until it expires. If you leave it, you'll be paying more until 31/03 and then still be paying the same rates afterwards.N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Ripple Kirk Hill member.

Thanks. I've just spoken with an EDF adviser to ask whether a lower SVR would apply after 01.04.22 if I ended my no exit deal now. He said that the current SVR is the same as those from 01.04.22. I asked him to check. He gave me the '01.04.22' rates. He then pulled up someone else's contract and gave me a different end date.
As an aside, there was also a lot of background noise / voices during the call etc. I asked whether the call was secure / whether people could hear my details. He said that it was / they couldn't. He said that he is working from home. I wasn't convinced that it was a secure call. Let's hope so.0
