Hi,
Please may I ask whether you get section 75 protection on a car purchase, from a trader on eBay?
Thank you.

This is not a totally straightforward answer and hinges on a pinhead.

If you pay by credit card via Paypal logging into your Paypal account, then that is not covered.

If you pay by credit card, but not logging into your Paypal account then I understand you are covered.

Some people have their Ebay accounts linked so that they always log into Paypal anyway at the payment stage.

Hopefully someone else will be along to confirm the above and provide more details so that you can proceed in the surety of having the protection you desire.

    I can't imagine a trader allowing a PayPal payment for a vehicle.

There also isn't a payment option on classified ads so it would need to be done outside of the eBay process.

I purchased 5 plus cars on eBay.
Always went to see the car did the deal there and then.
Most cars were 100k miles plus with no warranty whatsoever.

    Private seller, cash.
Business seller, Put £100 deposit on card and then went and got cash from bank.
Or paid the rest on debit card as fees were low.
The last car was 5k, He let me put £100 on credit card and the rest by debit card.
He was happy with that as the debit card fee was about 68p.
