    It can work both ways.
I had a 2nd floor flat and where the bathroom and kitchen weren't carpeted I could hear their conversations from the flat below.
The arguments were hilarious when your not involved

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on

The only normal people you know are the ones you don’t know very well

When I met my OH he lived in a 2nd floor flat. I recall the constant noise from the upstairs neighbours. We could hear every footstep courtesy of their wooden floors. Their toddler ran everywhere and sounded like he wore hob-nailed boots. I still shudder at the memory.

Installing wooden floors are a great way to destroy relationships with downstairs neighbours.

  • Yes put insulation underneath, you need some thing heavy. I rate soundtec but there are others
  • After sorting out the underlay, the next most important thing is to make the decision to live barefoot/in socks or slippers if you go this route.  Learn to take your shoes off at your front door and insist visitors do so too.
