EDF Charging at higher rate too soon
I had a fix with EDF which ended yesterday (28/02/2022). I therefore took meter readings late last night - I'd also recorded the readings earlier in the day. Today I've received the bill which has final readings lower than both sets of readings I took.
I have smart meters so they should have been able to take readings late yesterday evening or early hours of this morning.

As a result of this, my usage on the last day of my fix is going to be charged on the much higher standard variable tariff. It wont make much difference to me personally, but if they do the same for all customers whose tariffs are ending it's going to add up to a lot for them!
Going to see if I can challenge this on principle!

The bill you have would have been prepared a week or ten days ago - no way is it going to use yesterdays readings.
What does the web/app/bill say for date of last reading ? and what was it ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Look on your bill and see what the dates for the start and end were, as they'll typically either not bill upto the end of the month, or estimate the usage to the end of the month. For some reason it can take them a few days to actually generate a bill so your readings last night wouldn't have been included. But if they have charged too much you can ask for a re-bill.1

Thanks - it's not showing details of my current tariff at the moment due to the change over to SV so something is still happening on the account. I'll keep checking over the next few days.

Send them an email stating your readings and the time you took them. I did this when I left bulb in Jan 2021 as they were using estimated readings for more than my usage when I was going to a cheaper supplier.Someone please tell me what money is0

I had an EDF bill 2 days ago, the smart meter reading for the bill date was correct but there was a rate change part way through the billing period, you just wouldn't believe what readings were used on the day of the change - ESTIMATED - some sort of sad joke, the readings were too low, so I was charged at the new higher rate for more units. Another complaint to EDF submitted. They were also given the correct readings which I took from the smart meter myself! There's an amended bill in the pipeline but the new total is obviously wrong, about half what it should be, it beggars belief.
I won't know what they've messed up until I see the new bill.Robin9 said:The bill you have would have been prepared a week or ten days ago - no way is it going to use yesterdays readings.
Update: They obviously split the "Outstanding Balance" and yesterday's figures look as if they are up until the rate change. Today, new amount added that looks like the amount with the new rates. The total outstanding now seems correct, but I'll await the actual bill to confirm.
